On November 29th, 2020, Raul Jimenez had a serious head injury in a violent collision with Arsenal defender David Luiz during a Premier League match. Raul Jimenez was sent for head surgery as his fractured skull incident led to a major traumatic brain injury.
In July 2021, Raul Jimenez played his first match against Leicester since his head injury. It was reported that he had to wear a protective head guard for the rest of his career. In the following days, Raul Jimenez was often seen wearing different kinds of headgear in the field, switching from a heavy one to a lighter one, making his way to recovery.
