Compare the available designs, including the Italy home shirt for Euro 2024 and Italy player-version shirts for 2024. Different seasons and versions can have different collars, sleeve details, crests and fits. Use the photographs and description for the particular product to compare them. Blue is strongly associated with Italy’s home shirts, but the exact design should be checked rather than inferred from another season. For a retro shirt, the tournament or player you remember may guide your choice; for any version, consult its own size chart and the personalisation options offered.

Players in Italy’s history
Jorginho and Andrea Pirlo belong to different generations of Italian midfielders. Jorginho helped Italy win Euro 2020, while Pirlo was part of the team that won the World Cup in 2006. Their passing and ability to organise play made them influential figures in midfield. Shirts associated with these players recall different tournaments, squad numbers and stages of the national team’s history. When selecting a personalised shirt, match the player and number with the season you want to represent.

History of the Italian national team
Italy’s national team, known as the Azzurri, has a history that spans major international tournaments and several generations of players. The Italian Football Federation was established before the national team played its first match. This distinction matters when tracing the origins of organised football in Italy and the later development of the national side.
Italy played its first international on 15 May 1910, beating France 6-2 at the Arena Civica in Milan. The team wore white for that debut; blue became part of its identity later. The match marked the start of the national team’s story, rather than the beginning of football itself in the country.
Pietro Lana scored a hat-trick in that opening match. The result gave the new national side a successful start and made the Arena Civica an important place in its early history. These first appearances provide the background to the blue shirts that later became familiar around the world.
The team’s early matches remain part of the heritage remembered by Italian supporters. Over time, players, coaches and tournament successes added new chapters, while the national shirt became a recognisable link between those different eras.
Memorable achievements of the Azzurri
Italy won consecutive World Cups in 1934 and 1938 under coach Vittorio Pozzo. Giuseppe Meazza was one of the central players of that era. Those victories established an important early chapter in Italy’s international record.
Italy also won Olympic football gold in 1936, following a bronze medal in 1928. The Olympic success belongs to the same broad period of achievement as the team’s early World Cup victories and is another part of its international history.
In 1970, Italy returned to the World Cup final for the first time since 1938, facing Brazil. Pelé’s side won the final, but Italy’s 4-3 semi-final victory over West Germany remains one of the tournament’s most memorable matches. The game’s dramatic extra time helped make that Italian team part of World Cup history.
Italy’s international successes continued with World Cup titles in 1982 and 2006. The team also won the European Championship in 1968 and Euro 2020, which was played in 2021. These achievements belong to distinct generations and styles of play, linked by the familiar blue shirt.
The final against France in 2006 ended 1-1 after extra time, and Italy won the penalty shoot-out 5-3. Defensive organisation, midfield control and decisive contributions across the squad all formed part of that campaign. The title added another generation of players and shirts to the memories of Italian supporters.
Italy’s blue home shirts and alternative designs connect different periods in the national team’s story. Choose a shirt by the season, tournament or player that matters to you, then compare its photographs, fit information and available options. Each version can recall a different chapter in supporting the Azzurri.
